Get set for a most amazing treat!
The full moon of March 19th 2011, will be what many are calling a “SuperMoon”.
The full Worm Moon of the 19th, will be the closest full moon in over 19
years!
During the moons monthly motion around the Earth, we have an apogee
(farthest distance from earth) and a perigee (closest distance to earth).
On average, the moon is some 239,000 miles away from us, but on March
19th, the moon will come a close 221,556 miles away!
This will make for a slightly brighter full moon and a moon that will add some to the local tides around the globe.
Observers in the western hemisphere, the moon will be full on March 19th
at 2:10PM EDT and arrive at (perigee) at 3:09PM EDT, on the 19th.
Some are claiming that the proximity of the moon to the earth, may be a trigger for earthquakes and additional natural disasters.
The science surrounding this story tells us that there is NO definitive relationship, to triggers for natural disasters, etc.
There is truth to the higher tides, when any moon is close to the earth, but
once again, no scientific connection to natural disasters.
